Many Styles

Many Styles

Comprising three of the best DJs — Bay Area natives Apollo, Shortkut, and Vinroc — Triple Threat are a deck-dominating supercrew on par with Invisibl Skratch Piklz and the X-ecutioners. They've paid dues for many years, moving crowds as mobile DJs, on the international competition circuit, producing for assorted artists, holding down club nights, dropping countless mixtapes, and wowing audiences with their jaw-dropping turntable skills. Despite decades of experience, they had never released an official group album until this one, in 2003. Appropriately, Many Styles lives up to its name and the group's multifaceted style. There are the crazy scratch tracks ("Two Minute Warning," "Bring Da Ruckus"), the laid-back sing-songy jam ("On and On"), the super-hype party anthem ("We Got That"), Dancehall reggae ("Move Down Pressa"), and some actually hilarious skits about the occupational hazards of being a DJ. Beatwise, their style is consistently funky, while the guest MCs include local homies like Planet Asia, Zion I, Mystic, Goapele, and Souls of Mischief.
