The Best of JT Money & the Poison Clan

The Best of JT Money & the Poison Clan

The underrated Miami group Poison Clan started as the duo of JT Money and Debonaire, signing with Luther Campbell and releasing 2 Low Life Muthas, produced by 2 Live Crew's Mr. Mixx. Three more albums (Poisonous Mentality, Ruff Town Behavior, and Strait Zooism) followed, featuring various lineup changes with JT as the one constant. With a compelling mix of gun-toting bravado, over-the-top misogyny, dirtball humor, and kidney-shaking bass, the group developed a strong cult following in the South but never quite broke through to the G-Funk–loving mainstream. This compilation features all of Poison Clan's signature jams, with surprisingly diverse production that mixes old-school soul samples and strip club–ready, booty-shaking bass bangers alike. The group's biggest crossover hit—"Shake Whatcha Mama Gave Ya"—is included, as is the mellow, sitar-laced "In My Nature" and more hardcore offerings like "Put Sh*t Past No Ho," "Fakin' Like Gangstas," and the absurdly catchy sing-along anthem "I Hate Hoes."
