Just for a Moment

Just for a Moment

This is not the Ronnie Lane album Just for a Moment. Rather, it's apparently a rejumbling of Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane’s original motion picture soundtrack for the 1972 Canadian film Mahoney’s Estate, which appeared as the Mahoney’s Last Stand album in September 1976. Most tracks here are instrumentals, with the “title track” of this album, “Just for a Moment,” featuring vocals on the reprise version. In this album incarnation, the songs are out of their original order—but for anyone who’s been searching for these quite intriguing workouts between two key members of The Faces, this has the music. The lineup of musicians is an all-star cast, with the names Pete Townshend, Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan, Ian Stewart, Bobby Keys, Jim Price, Rick Grech, Benny Gallagher, Bruce Rowland, Micky Waller, Billy Nicholls, and producer Glyn Johns all appearing in the credits. “Title One” breaks out the horn section. “From the Late to the Early” is lazy acoustic country-rock at its best (just waiting for a vocal), while “Chicken Wired” is another great vocal performance.
