Eisenhower

Eisenhower

Known primarily as a heavy touring band (with four live releases to show for it), The Slip also know their way around a studio, and it’s these production skills (along with co-producer Matthew Ellard) that help make Eisenhower memorable. Utilizing a wealth of keyboards, synthesizers, and spacey effects, their unique and carefully structured songs are intriguing in the same way that some of the music by Wilco or My Morning Jacket is. Constant touring has also allowed them to develop the necessary skills (and band telepathy) to navigate these unusual, genre-blending song structures, with their elements of folk, jam-band jazz, and indie rock, and layers of guitars, piano, and strings. Formed in 1995, this guitar/bass/drums trio is a tight unit with intriguing (sometimes obtuse) lyrics and some excellent harmonies. Encompassing moody ballads, sophisticated jams, and hook-based pop, Eisenhower delivers many unexpected pleasures.
