Mark Seliger is best known for his innovative photography of legendary musicians and celebrities. He also lends his creative talent to music—fronting the alt-country outfit Rusty Truck. As the band’s second album, Kicker Town, reveals, part of Seliger's gift for photographing musicians must come from his natural passion for the craft itself. The Texas native brings just enough twang to give the tunes a natural, country-kissed lilt. The same is true of the arrangements; although the roots-rocking “Emancipation” and “Good As Gone” move along at a good clip, most of the tracks take an easy-rolling, midtempo road adorned by a tasteful steel guitar swoop here, a soulfully sawing fiddle there, and just the right mix of earthiness and artfulness.
