On their first two albums—2010's Creatures and 2012's Infamous—Motionless in White juggled a range of styles, from pummeling blast-beat hardcore to grinding industrial to occasionally melodic metalcore. And while their music earned the descriptor "horror metal," it could also be quite tuneful. Reincarnate pulls all these elements together. Chris Motionless is a vocal acrobat, screaming, cackling, and growling one minute, belting melodic lines the next. The title track is a fist-pumping anthem, its punishing verse giving way to a soaring chorus. Meanwhile, "Puppets 3 (The Grand Finale)" is a grindcore/thrash metal confection. Stylistically ranging ("Wasp" is a seven-minute downtempo nightmare!), this is Motionless in White's most accomplished work to date.
