Producer Bob Ezrin’s 35th-anniversary remix of Kiss’ glam-metal landmark Destroyer is louder, clearer, and even more otherworldly. The wailing strings and boys choir emerging toward the end of Gene Simmons’ art-rock ballad “Great Expectations” sound as if they’re descending from heaven, and the call-and-response vocals woven into the comic-book-splashed headbanger “Detroit Rock City” are enriched with reverb and space. The wall-of-sound gem “Do You Love Me?” is pristinely defined, with Beatles-esque harmonies and wedding bells that now ring like crystal.
