Ringo 5.1 (Stereo Masters)

Ringo 5.1 (Stereo Masters)

These are stereo masters of an album that was also issued in 5.1 Surround Sound. These versions are NOT in 5.1 but are pristine stereo mixes. This set summarizes Ringo’s brief stay with Koch Records by alternating tracks from 2005’s Choose Love with those from 2003’s Ringorama. Ringo was making records then with Mark Hudson and his band The Roundheads, and the style they'd settled on is a perfect mix of Beatlesque pop and modern rock. Ringo albums were often helped along by an impressive list of guest musicians, and this collection includes highlights with Eric Clapton (“Fading In and Fading Out”), Charlie Haden (“Imagine Me There”), Billy Preston (“Oh My Lord”), The Eagles’ Timothy B. Schmit (“Memphis in Your Mind”), Chrissie Hynde (“Don’t Hang Up”), and Van Dyke Parks (“Elizabeth Reigns”). A few decent songs from each album were left off, but for someone who wants a quick sampler, this collection nicely blends the two albums.
