The Psychedelic World of the 13th Floor Elevators, Vol. 2

This is the second volume of a box set that collected the works of the legendary Texas psychedelic-garage-punk band The 13th Floor Elevators. Led by visionary vocalist Roky Erickson, who made every song he sang sound like a cry for help or a deadly threat, the Elevators recorded three official studio albums, saw their record company release a fake live album without their consent, and suffered at the hands of excessive LSD intake and the law. The recordings here include their second album, Easter Everywhere, plus actual live tracks from Texas in 1967, the edited version of "Slip Inside This House," a 1965 version of "You're Gonna Miss Me" by Roky Erickson's early band The Spades, and that single's b-side, "We Sell Soul." Highlights include a trippy cover of Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," the band staple "Levitation," the gorgeous and frail ballad "I Had to Tell You," and a dirty and raw rendition of "You're Gonna Miss Me."
