The biggest little band in Sinaloa, Mexico, La Adictiva Banda San José de Mesillas deploys 15 members' worth of instrumental firepower on this brass-heavy album. With seven horn players aboard, the arrangements cross regional Mexican music with jazz and even a few touches of the avant-garde. "Se Te Está Acabando El Tiempo" features klezmer-like use of soprano sax, with tuba pumping underneath. Other instrumental surprises, like steel guitar on the title song and congas on "El Pasado Es Pasado," expand their reach further still.
