Break the Pot

Break the Pot

A testament to the gift and curse of a huge first single, Rich Boy started his career normally enough, appearing on compilations and mixtapes from Ludacris, Drake, and Jermaine Dupri. Signed to Interscope, he dropped his self-titled debut album in 2007 and saw his song "Throw Some D's" race up the charts and become an enormous hit, rocking in clubs and radios from coast to coast. And then...nothing. In the years following, he maintained his major-label connection and released seven mixtapes (including Bring It to the Block, Kool-Aid, Kush & Convertibles, and Gold Kilo$) but failed to drop another big song. Now going the independent route, he hopes to change all that with Break the Pot. Though it's somewhat overloaded with features (he's only alone on two tracks), there are some serious winners on here, most notably the throwback funk of "Monster," the UGK-style mack anthem "Pimp On," and the crossover-ready love jam "Everything About You" with Bobby Valentino.
