Lil’ Flip’s third studio album funnels the Texas underground rapper’s distinctly Southern flow into a more commercially minded set without sacrificing any of his trademark menace. The production is crisp, textured, and thumping, but still retains that signature Houston sound—the bouncing “Fly Boy,” for example, is built on a foundation of rattling hi-hats, wah-wah guitars, and DJ Screw-style vocal loops. Flip has a rarely heard softer side, too, though: Check out the fresh R&B vibes of the Mya-assisted “Flippin.”
