The Wandas

The Wandas

Boston’s the Wandas have been plugging away at it for nearly a decade, releasing music in limited formats to local city fans. This is considered by the group to be their second official album and by its title they obviously wouldn’t mind if you thought of it as their first. It’s an accomplished affair with a classic sound that lingers around a ‘70s country-rock vibe. “Longtime Running,” with its tight harmonies, walks a line between the Eagles and Wilco, with more than a little Gene Clark filling in the songwriting. “Do or Die” bounces with an assured bass line anchoring the earnest pop harmonies and melody. It feels like a quick stroll on a cool summer night. “Forever and Ever” works free and easy. “Tied a Knot” uses an economical approach that points out the satisfying hooks. There’s an ease to this music, an unhurried and uncluttered point of view that’s the mark of a seasoned group.
