Ringo Starr and His All Star Band 2006 (Live)

Ringo Starr and His All Star Band 2006 (Live)

Having come to the conclusion that music fans loved Ringo Starr but didn’t necessarily wish to attend a concert that featured just him and his songs (especially new ones), Ringo became the host of an ever-changing touring revue. Each time out, a variety of famous and semi-famous musicians joined his backing band, which also gave them a chance to perform a few of their songs alongside the usual flow of Beatles and Starr solo hits. This particular album takes place in Uncasville, Conn., with costars Sheila E. (a frequent guest), Rod Argent from The Zombies and Argent, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, Richard Marx, and The Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart. This lineup leads to a strong mix of hit singles, from Squier’s “Everybody Wants You” and Winter’s “Free Ride” to Sheila E’s “The Glamorous Life” and Argent’s “She’s Not There.” Richard Marx contributes “Don’t Mean Nothing,” while Ringo sails through Carl Perkins’ “Honey Don’t,” “Photograph,” “With a Little Help from My Friends,” and other favorites.
