Planet BAD: Greatest Hits

Planet BAD: Greatest Hits

Guitarist Mick Jones shifted musical gears after leaving The Clash. For Big Audio Dynamite, Jones employed an early kind of multimedia approach to music, using samples, electronics, and dance beats to propel his own brand of reggae, ska, punk, funk, and hip-hop. It was a challenge in the ’80s and early ’90s to blend such elements, but BAD did it with mad skills and that were well ahead of their time. This set collects their best from seven albums. It shows the band managing to fill dance floors with melancholy (“E=MC2”) while pushing the pop envelope (“The Globe”) and keeping Clash fans happy (“Rush”).
