Though he never blew up as big as some of his Cali compatriots, WC has been doing it since day one, first as a Rhyme Syndicate affiliate with DJ Aladdin in Low Profile, then with Coolio and Sir Jinx in WC and the Madd Circle, then as a solo artist and as a member of Westside Connection alongside Ice Cube and Mack 10. Despite global superstardom somehow eluding him, he's never given up and he's never altered his approach; he's still the same no-nonsense Golden State rhyme-spitter he's always been. On That's What I'm Talkin About, his first release since 2007's Guilty By Affiliation, he presents us with a short but solid EP, letting the world know that he's still here, and not a thing's changed. The title track is a mid-tempo anthem rocking a very Dre-esque beat, "What's Good" features fellow underrated G Kokane, while the staccato vibe of "Stickin to the Script" finds him in the booth with Bad Lucc and Tha Dogg Pound, Crip walking to the swap meet while clowning the skinny jeans set. Refreshingly straightforward Westside hip-hop from one of its true pioneers.
