In Your Living Room is as stone-faced a musical comedy album as you'll ever hear: It opens with tuba solos and continues into an extended tribute to the Carpenters, the humor revealing itself gradually in the sonic equivalent of a double take. Elsewhere, the man who would later play Colonel Mustard upends expectations with a few unlikely, ironic juxtapositions. Where his polka cover of the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack is uncannily majestic, "Ukulele Blues" is not only funny, but it’s also surprisingly poignant.
