Circa: Now!

Circa: Now!

At a time when the music world’s attention was mostly turned toward Seattle, Rocket from the Crypt singlehandedly established San Diego as a rock ’n’ roll hub with their 1992 debut. Circa: Now! borrowed the reckless spirit of The Replacements and supercharged it with the guitar dynamics of Fugazi, and an edgy pop sensibility to rival Nirvana. Within a few years, The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, and Foo Fighters would all be storming the pop charts, but “Short Lip Fuser,” “Hippy Dippy Do,” and “Ditch Digger” perfected that sound long before any of those bands made it big.
