Misses

Misses

Misses was Joni Mitchell’s handpicked anthology to accompany the Hits package her record company really wanted. As expected, Mitchell chose some of the lesser-known songs in her catalog. “A Case of You,” from 1970’s essential Blue, is this album’s most popular song, having been covered by Tori Amos and Prince among many, with “For the Roses” and “Hejira,” the title songs from their respective albums, the runner-ups. Songs such as “Passion Play,” “Nothing Can Be Done,” “The Beat of Black Wings,” and “The Magdalene Laundries” from Mitchell’s post-'70s work provide solid reasons to seek out her overlooked albums.
