M.C. Taylor’s decision to sign with Merge Records opened up his rustic musings to a broader audience, and 2014’s Lateness of Dancers landed on many music critics’ year-end "best of" lists. This three-song EP features orphaned tracks that are still plenty good enough to see release. The title track was recorded live at Philadelphia’s WXPN studios, with Alexandra Sauser-Monnig and drummer Matt McCaughan providing the gospel-like backing vocals to the prominent bluesy slide guitar. The remaining two tracks share a verse in common but venture in different directions. Taylor’s road band—Scott Hirsch, Phil Cook, Matt Douglas, McCaughan, and Sauser-Monnig—kick things into gear.
