The Hot Sardines

The Hot Sardines

The Hot Sardines’s sound ranges from the time of jazz’s birth in speakeasies through the swing era of World War II. Co-led by perky singer/washboard player Miz Elizabeth and Paris-born pianist/arranger Evan “Bibs” Palazzo, the seven-piece play with an energy that's very much in keeping with the early days of jazz; they even feature a tap dancer as a soloist (check out “Your Feet’s Too Big,” among others). Highlights include the continental “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen” and “Petite Fleur,” as well as swing classics like “Honeysuckle Rose” and the bass-driven “What a Little Moonlight Can Do.”
