Town Bidness, Vol. 1

Town Bidness, Vol. 1

Though he never really blew up nationwide, Oakland mainstay Richie Rich has been making hits since 1988, and is an unquestionable West Coast legend. From his early days with 415, through the ‘90s,  when he appeared on huge records by fellow Bay homies Tupac and the Luniz, and into the 21st century, he has never stopped recording, whether for giant mega-companies (Def Jam, Priority) or hyper-obscure independents. Billed as a "street album," Town Bidness, Vol. 1 is the first of three installments to be released via his own TenSix label, and features Rich doing what he does best; rhyming about game and California pride over a bevy of rideable beats loaded with trunk-rattling bass grooves and weezy, smoke-friendly keyboard flourishes. Nothing ground-breaking here, just feel-good Golden State jams from a genuine O.G. Snoop Dogg appears on "I Fux Wit U," while B-Legit and Erk The Jerk co-star on the Simpsons-sampling "Doe (Remix)."
