Spooky Lady's Sideshow

Spooky Lady's Sideshow

Kris Kristofferson’s 1974 album Spooky Lady's Sideshow was the artistic culmination of the poetic outlaw-country approach that he'd pioneered at the start of the ’70s. The record finds him railing eloquently against the trappings and travails of fame on tunes like "Same Old Song" and even sounding like he’d be happier outside the spotlight on the brass-bedecked ode to hedonism "I May Smoke Too Much." But stardom notwithstanding, the album’s lush yet rugged production achieved a more natural balance here than ever before.
