Live at the Folklore Center - March 6th, 1967

This previously unreleased recording captures the late, great singer/songwriter performing solo in an intimate setting. At the time of the concert, Buckley was only 19 years old, but he had already released his impressive self-titled debut. Live At the Folklore Center includes a number of songs that appear on that album and the classic Goodbye and Hello, but it also includes six never-released originals: “Just Please Leave Me,” “What Do You Do (He Never Saw You),” “Cripples Cry,” “If the Rain Comes,” “Country Boy,” and “I Can’t Leave You Loving Me.” The album opens with a moving version of “Song for Jainie” that displays Buckley’s energetic guitar playing and powerful vocals. Accompanied only by his acoustic guitar, the man summons the force of an entire band. Throughout the album, he moves back and forth between super-charged material that hints at the jazzy music he would later create and his gentler folkie side. The pumped-up “I Can’t Leave You Loving Me,” which features soaring vocals, wraps things up on a high note.
