Thug Luv

Thug Luv

Still going strong well after the demise of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Layzie Bone has been steadily putting out solo albums, collabo projects, and mixtapes since 2001. Released through Siccness.com, Thug Luv is relatively short, at just ten tracks, but it's loaded with the rapid-fire Midwestern steez that BTNH popularized in the ‘90s, set to bombastic low-end, skittering beats, and walls of keyboards. The majority of material here was recorded many years ago, several of the joints are straight remixes with old verses set to new beats, and the legitimacy of the whole project is somewhat mysterious (Layzie himself has stated he didn't know it was even coming out), but regardless, the finished product is pretty tight, and will be eagerly devoured by the legions of Bone fans who can't get enough. Check out the chime-and-clap infused "To Letchu Know” and the thought-provoking prison-blues joint "Doin Life."
