With a Twist

With a Twist

"A cappella singing group Straight No Chaser branch out from recording Holiday carols with an album that covers some of their favorite pop tunes. If you've ever wondered what it might sound like should somebody blend new wave with barbershop, look no further than SNC’s soulful take on the 1981 hit ""Tainted Love."" They follow this with another amazing rendition of an '80s gem, Crowded House's ""Don't Dream It's Over,"" though this version abounds with amazing harmonies and beat-box rhythms treated with just enough effects to sound like actual percussive instruments. SNC segues into the ‘90s with a gorgeous cover of Oasis' ""Wonderwall"" before taking on a Bobby McFerrinesque version of Red Hot Chili Peppers' ""Under The Bridge."" With A Twist ends with a cameo by Barry Manilow piping in on his own ""One Voice"" (which is awesome when you consider that it took 11 voices to flesh this one out).
