Of all the stars to emerge from Death Row Records' classic Chronic and Doggystyle lineups (Snoop, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Kurupt, Lady of Rage, RBX, etc.), none have been as prolific as Daz Dillinger, who continues to put out independent albums on what seems like a near-weekly basis. To be sure, not all of them are essential, but he does have a much better than average ratio of dope-to-wack tracks. Public Enemiez was released in 2009 and is (at least) his 11th solo joint, not counting numerous compilations, DPG albums, and collaboration projects. Like his best work, it's produced entirely by Daz himself; he brings a G Funk pedigree to the table that few, if any, can duplicate. Watery synths, deep bass bumps, trunk-rattling drums, and funked-out wah-wahs dominate, as he sounds off about Suge Knight and his time on The Row ("Tell Me What You Got"), inner-city poverty ("In My Neighborhood"), and his love of working girls ("Meet Me @ the Strip Club"). Overall, another great effort from a hip-hop hero.
