iTunes Review
Quentin Tarantino is famous for referencing older movies in his work, and for 2009’s Inglourious Basterds he often draws musical material from earlier films. The director boldly repurposes David Bowie’s “Cat People (Putting Out the Fire)” — originally the theme song for Paul Schrader’s 1982 feature Cat People (a remake of a 1942 Jacques Tourneur film) — for this World War II revenge fantasy. Ennio Morricone is represented by four tracks, including “The Verdict,” which riffs on a fragment from Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,” and “The Surrender,” which features monster trombone. “Tiger Tank” is a classic example of the action music the Argentinean composer Lalo Schifrin is known for, while Jacques Loussier’s main theme from Dark of the Sun sports a sharp arrangement. “Davon Geht Die Welt Nicht Unter,” by Zarah Leander, a Danish singer and actress who was popular in Germany during the war, is included, and so is Billy Preston’s funky “Slaughter,” one of the most exciting things here.

Another Great Album by a Great Director
You can always count on Tarantino to have some of the most interesting, and certainly unique soundtracks for his films. Once again, Ennio Morricone comes through with the same great music we haven't gotten to hear since Kill Bill Vol. 2. Every song on this soundtrack is classic Tarantino, and you gotta love it.
Most unique WWII piece.
A most interesting combination of World War II and music that takes you back to the Old West. A unique album with dark and light, comical themes.
Great soundtrack, but Album Only? No....
I loved the music in the movie so much. And the movie was a masterpiece. Some of the songs were just so awesome, and I wanted it on my iPod but I go to iTunes, and guess what, Album Only. The whole entire album. I don't even understand why Album only is necessary. It just really grinds my gears. iTunes, could you PLEASE change that? I'm not going to buy the whole album just for a few songs. I don't feel the need to have all of them. Just a few. For the actual album, I would give this soundtrack a 4. But since it's album only: 2 stars.....
