The Big Lebowski (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture)

Fitting for a movie centered around an aged L.A. stoner who cares only about bowling, White Russians, and area rugs, The Big Lebowski loads up on breezily off-kilter tunes from some of rock’s greatest oddballs, like Captain Beefheart’s 1972 folk-soul curio “Her Eyes Are a Blue Million Miles” and Moondog’s street-busker symphony “Stamping Ground.” As per the Dude’s wishes, there is no Eagles music here, though Gipsy Kings’ flamenco-kissed cover of “Hotel California”—like his ill-fated, urine-soaked carpet—really holds the room together.
