The Dreaming singer Chris Hall reinvented himself after spending seven years leading Stabbing Westward, a band with a tougher, industrial sound that some fans have been hoping for ever since their breakup. In 2014, it was announced that Hall’s former writing partner in SW, Walter Flakus, was joining The Dreaming. Speculation wondered where the band’s sound would go. Those looking for the former band’s heavy eeriness will hear only touches. However, fans of melodic hard rock with electronic accents will be thoroughly satisfied with songs such as “Alone,” “Painkillers,” “Kisses Taste Like Death,” and “Afraid,” which make Rise Again The Dreaming’s best album to date.
