The Verdict

One of the Bay Area's most revered street lyricists, The Jacka got his start with Mob Figaz before dropping his first solo joint in 2001. All told, he’s released well over 30 projects, including group albums, collaborations, and mixtapes. The Verdict is the follow-up to The Indictment and a prequel to the forthcoming The Sentence. He raps extensively about criminology, and there's something about The Jacka's mellow, matter-of-fact flow that brings more urgency to well-worn subjects. Relatively short at just 13 tracks (really 10, not counting the skits), it still impresses thanks to quality wordplay and solid guest shots from J, Stalin, Smigg Dirtee, 12G Shotie, Lil Rue, Vince V, Cellski, and Stevie Joe. Most everything here is solid, but standouts are "All Around the World," "Let It Go," "Everyday," and "They Need That Mob Sh*t."
