Another Hopeless Summer 2011
How can anyone’s summer be truly hopeless with sweet jams like these? Another Hopeless Summer 2011 kicks off with an acoustic version of All Time Low’s “I Feel Like Dancin’” which is as funny as it is catchy. We Are the In Crowd matches them with the following acoustic number “Lights Out.” Comparatively it’s a bit more pensive and romantic – the kind of tune that would well accompany a fleeting lakeside romance between two counselors at a kids’ summer camp. Yellowcard kicks the party into top gear with “For You, And Your Denial,” an emo-fueled guitar-pop song where classic violin tones clash against walls of guitar distortion as singer Ryan Key croons heartfelt lyrics. Meanwhile Orlando, Florida’s There for Tomorrow bequeaths quite the drama-charged ditty with “Hunt Hunt Hunt,” where chiming electric guitars enveloped in a plethora of effects pedals are perfectly matched with frontman Maika Maile’s Geddy Lee-inspired vocal performance. For the Foxes closes with acoustic ballad “Hold Your Breath.”
