For his fifth album, Seal brought in as producer British dance-music architect Stuart Price, whose flinty beats dominated mid-’00s clubs. Price’s bass-heavy, intricate electro and Seal’s jagged bellow make for a heady combination on tracks like the triumphant “If It’s in My Mind, It’s on My Face” and the driving title track. On the dreamy exploration “The Right Life,” the English singer’s rasp gets squeezed into a vocoder, highlighting the humanity that fuels Seal’s songwriting by thrusting him into a post-human world.
