Eventually

While “You’ve Had It with You” is as strident as anything Paul Westerberg did in The Replacements, it’s obvious on his second solo album that he’s aiming for, and achieving, that kind of otherworldly glow that few singer/songwriters can pull off. It presents unexplainable melancholy rooted in passion that’s often misunderstood. “Time Flies Tomorrow,” “Once Around the Weekend,” “Angels Walk,” “Mamadaddydid," and “Love Untold” are hummable (if beautifully somber) exchanges between an observer and his subject, or a lover and his busted heart, atop beds of guitars and spare frames of rhythm. There's not a slight moment here.
