Ilyich

Ilyich

A prolific emcee and veteran of San Francisco's underground hip-hop scene, Equipto has been around for many years and has dropped literally dozens of albums: as a solo artist, in collaboration projects (with cats like Andre Nickatina, Mike Marshall, and Berner), and as a member of longtime indie-rap favorites Bored Stiff. On Ilyich (the title is also his government name), he does what he does best, delivering exceptional lyricism and thoughtful wordplay over lush, highly musical production from Bean One and A-Plus, among others. Released on his own label, Solidarity Records, it features longtime homies like San Quinn, Z-Man, Spank Pops, and Sunspot Jonz. Standout tracks include "The Greatest (Feelin')," "Heart & Soul," "When I Die," and the Compton's Most Wanted remake "Rhymes 2 Funky" with Sick YG. Another quality release from one of Cali's best.
