School Punks

School Punks

1974’s School Punks lives up to its title in every way. While Brownsville Station had always been loud, this is by far the snottiest of their early albums. It almost feels like they responded to the crossover success of “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” by sticking their thumb in the eye of the pop establishment. Their mission was to prove that great rock ‘n’ roll is punk rock by definition. “Mama Don’t Allow No Parkin’,” “Meet Me on the Fourth Floor,” and “I Get So Excited” are the missing link between Mitch Ryder, Alice Cooper, and The Sex Pistols.
