Living Colour spent the summer of 1991 joining their alt-rock peers on the first Lollapalooza tour, but the EP they released at the time reinforced their spiritual connections to ’70s soul. Biscuits opens with the band’s metallic remount of James Brown’s “Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing,” before venturing into a tense, bass-popping take on Al Green’s “Love and Happiness.” The EP’s cornerstone covers are supplemented by various live cuts and originals, including the frantic, guitar-squealed anti-capitalist critique “Money Talks.”
