"Horrible Things (Make Pretty Songs)" displays the band's hummable sad side, as wisps of The Beach Boys trail through the air. "Madness" floats with acoustic guitar and a keyboard introducing the song's scrappy appeal. "Ten Teardrops" centers on a melody that quickly bursts with joy. "Everyone's a Bitch" cranks up the power chords for a new wave–styled punch. "Lazy River" is too good to be just a bonus track, but so it is.
