On Numbers’ second album for indie stalwart label Kill Rock Stars, the reformed noisemakers delve deeper into gauzy textures, circular melodies, and motorik beats. The result is their most hypnotizing set to date: While “Kosmos Love” hums and throbs with layered synth oscillations and singer Indra Dunis’ echo-smeared mantra, the Stereolab-flavored “Fly On the Window” sounds like a psych-pop ballad for lounging cyborgs. Even “Everything Is Fine”—which hints at their roots in twitchy, lo-fi agitation—settles into swirling kaleidoscopic propulsion.
