The Complete Albums Collection

The Complete Albums Collection

This Collection features 14 Paul Simon solo albums, including The Paul Simon Songbook from 1965 and two live albums—1974’s Paul Simon in Concert: Live Rhymin’ and 1991’s Paul Simon’s Concert in the Park, August 15, 1991. The bonus tracks from previous deluxe editions of Simon’s solo albums are included here. It’s readily apparent from the Songbook album—recorded after Simon & Garfunkel’s debut album, Wednesday Morning, 3AM, sold disappointingly and before producer Tom Wilson overdubbed electric instruments to “The Sound of Silence” and gave the duo their first hit—that Simon was a songwriter of great originality and poise. Listening through, you hear the evolution of a major musical talent of the 20th and 21st centuries. (Only 2012’s Live in New York City, recorded for a different label, and the single version of “Slip Slidin’ Away” and the live version of “American Tune”—both of which first appeared on 1977’s out-of-print Greatest Hits, Etc.—aren't included here.) What a career!
