A Tribute to Hank Williams Live!

Hank Williams Sr., the gold standard for country music, was best known for raw, emotive performances and songwriting that defined the country music of the late ’40 and early ‘50s. Girls Guns and Glory chose to pay tribute by recording concerts dedicated to Hank’s music, taking place on New Year’s Day in 2014 and New Year's Eve the night before, at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Mass. (Hank died on New Year’s Day in 1953 on his way to a show.) “Jambalaya” and “I Saw the Light” best represent Hank’s upbeat material, while a daring, slow version of “Rockin’ Chair Money” shows the group are capable of recasting a tune in their image.
