Boasting the astute songwriting of former English major Glenn Richards, Augie March’s Moo, You Bloody Choir has enough patience to let us observe the quality of its craftsmanship. Richards channels Bob Dylan in the garage stomp of “Just Passing Through” and Ray Davies in the music hall melodicism of “Thin Captain Crackers,” but the group has no trouble achieving a tone of its own. It’s there in the gorgeously sleepy waltz of “The Honey Month” and “The Baron of Sentiment,” which turns a shuffling country groove into a golden moment.
