The Soul of Benjamin Banneker In the Age of the Aquarius

The Soul of Benjamin Banneker In the Age of the Aquarius

Coming out of Chicago via Memphis, Infinito 2017 is one of the hardest-working artists in hip-hop, churning out multiple albums every year, working with producers from around the world, and signing with just about every independent label you can think of. A pure lyricist, he rhymes almost exclusively about living righteous, striking out against ignorant attitudes, senseless thug-life glorification, all manner of drug abuse (including cigarettes and alcohol), and racism in society. To be sure, it can be a little much at times, especially when so much rap music embraces many of the things he stands against, but you've gotta give him props for staying true to his agenda. Benjamin Banneker is a 22-track epic produced by Thaione Davis, the Molemen, Fatnice, and Fathom 89, among others, and features highlights such as "The Almighty," "Heavens Gate," and "9:27 PM (The Day I Lost)." Hardcore yet totally sincere, this is true consciousness hip-hop from a one-of-kind MC.
