Pandelirium

Pandelirium

Sounding like an Eastern-European gypsy caravan careening wildly through the Deep South, the third release by these rockabilly wild men takes all the unhinged energy of their previous albums and spins off in several directions at once. Beginning with the demonic scream of the opening “Ichabod,” the tight, sinister-sounding band speeds through wild and woozy waltzes (“Iron Lung Oompah,” “Nellie Bell”), twisted country (“Bottom Road”), and high-octane blues (“Somethin’ In the Water”) with reckless glee. Songs like “Monkey On the Doghouse” are equally hilarious and unnerving, coming off like a delightfully demented circus act that got mired in a swamp somewhere and just decided to hunker down and play for their lives. Pandelirium is a fast and furious ride that never lets up.
