Norton Records rescued these obscure but classic garage rock sides that all miraculously came from the '60s teen scene in Fort Worth, Texas. A documentary film, Teen a Go Go, has since further explained this phenomenon. Fans of the Nuggets, Pebbles, and Back from the Grave compilations will feel right at home with the thoroughly off-the-hook performances on each of the three volumes of this prized anthology. The Cynics kick things off in raw style with a spitting version of "Train Kept-A-Rollin'," while The Jades follow with a tough version of Van Morrison and Them's "Little Girl." Larry & The Blue Notes' original "Night of the Sadist" became a classic (with "sadist" changed to "phantom" in the released version, in fear of FCC censors, and available on Volume 2). Five of a Kind's "I Don't Want to Find Another Girl" captures the great fragility in the untutored genius of the teenage heart. The Tracers' take on "She Said Yeah" sounds like the beginnings of The MC5's high-energy assault. The Nomads work over The Rolling Stones' "Empty Heart" with everything they've got.
