All Things Are Possible

All Things Are Possible

Released in 1978 by the Christian label Lamb & Lion, Dan Peek’s first post-America album celebrated his newly found faith in a batch of bright, smoothly performed songs. All Things Are Possible isn’t a radical departure from the singer/songwriter’s work with his old group: the melodies are buoyant, the lyrics are warm and a bit playful and the vocal harmonies recall the sweetness of classic Southern California pop. What’s different is the emphasis on spiritual transformation, described in straightforward terms in “He’s All That’s Right” and “You’re My Savior” and more indirectly in “Divine Lady” and “Lighthouse.” Peek shows that his gift for writing radio-friendly material remains intact with “All Things Are Possible” and “Ready For Love.” His old band mates Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell join him on harmonies for the America-esque “Love Was Just Another Word.” The closing track “I Have to Say Goodbye” makes it clear that Peek has moved on from his secular rock-star days. Musically, though, All Things Are Possible will be of interest to long-time America admirers as well as fans of Christian pop/rock.
