At his January 17, 1991 concert at The Borderline in London, San Francisco rocker Mark Eitzel provided a snapshot of detached intensity, getting lost in the interplay between his shimmering acoustic guitar lines and his sympathetic croon (“Blue and Grey Shirt”) while still maintaining an important levity; he’s not afraid to address the crowd, as he does in the middle of his powerful “Firefly.” The balanced mixing on tracks like “Last Harbour” and “Crabwalk” put Eitzel’s passionate rasp front and center.
