stale air

What the hell happened to air? That havent got it right since talkie walkie. I hate the direction they have been going in the last 3 years. Their music used to be sonic landscapes that could lift the listener to another plateau. Now its just a bunch of sketcky maniacal beats that one cant even enjoy. I want the old air back. Your band name is, AIR. Start making music again thats as light and beautiful as the word......

Great Score!

To all of the negative posters, keep in mind this is a movie score... Thus the non "popness" of the song. It will most likely make a lot more sense watching with the images on the screen (ala the brilliant Virgin Suicides). I absolutely love the use of the Mellotron and the quirky flavor that is AIR. Non-Commercial as usual, this band has their own studio and makes the music they want to; not the music a label tells them they have to make. Most of my friends that listen to Air are fellow musicians. Artists usually appreciate art! Their name AIR is an acronym for Love, Imagination, Dream.... Their latest effort holds true to those ideals. I can already see the images behind their score; cant wait for the video release of Le Voyage Dans La Lune.
Keep up the good work JB and Nicolas!

Lovely :)

Support a beautiful artist trying to thrive by incorporating different tones into their music in a world of mindless pop garbage. Sounds like this are nothing new to AIR. They've experimented with different sounds many times in the past. This song in particular reminds me of a mix between sound from Pocket Symphonies and The Virgin Suicides, both of which I found lovely, very much like this song. In my opinion, what this song lacks is the fatness of analog sounding synthesis (something I am very fond of in AIR's music) and Nicolas's wonderful bass guitar lines. Regardless, the structure is still lovely. "Sketchy Mechanical Beats" Really..? Each to their own opinion I guess. If you're calling these sounds "Sketchy Mechanical Beats" then I can only assume you've only scratched the surface of AIR's beautiful music and advice to adventure into the many sounds and sounds they have to offer. I'm excited to hear what else this album will provide. Years of replays, like all other AIR albums that live in my collection. Keep up the fantastic work AIR. With 10,000 Legends playing in the background at the moment, I sign off anxiously waiting for the release of Le Voyage Dans La Lune. Thank you.

Biography

Formed: 1995 in Paris, France

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '90s, '00s

More apt to cite stately rock paragons Burt Bacharach and Brian Wilson as their inspirations than Derrick May or Aphex Twin, the French duo Air gained inclusion into the late-'90s electronica surge due chiefly to the labels their recordings appeared on, not the actual music they produced. Their sound, a variant of the classic disco sound coaxed into a relaxing Prozac vision of the late '70s, looked back to a variety of phenomena from the period — synthesizer maestros Tomita, Jean-Michel Jarre,...
