Violent Light

Violent Light

Much of Milagres’ second studio album, Violent Light, draws inspiration from bandleader Kyle Wilson’s home region of northern New Mexico and his grandfather’s involvement with the Manhattan Project. The record’s sound is appropriately grandiose; “Perennial Bulb” opens with a sea of sparkling and buzzing synths, setting a big, cinematic tone. They remain ambitious but funky with a Prince-esque turn on “The Letterbomb.” It all ends with the whirlpools of piano and softly exploding crescendos of the rhythmic “Another Light.”
