MCR’s last album before their 2013 breakup is a colorful, over-the-top pop-punk concept LP laden with glam extravagance. The story chronicles a band of misfits called the Killjoys and their battles against evil forces, encompassing space-age power ballads (“Sing”), ramshackle ‘70s punk homages (“Vampire Money”), and even swooning New Wave (“Summertime”). And if the title of “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” doesn’t give it away, Gerard Way & co. haven’t forgotten how to lead an epic shout-along chorus.
